About the Role:
This is a hands-on IT Officer role based at a residential aged care facility in Strathfield, NSW. The successful candidate will be the primary on-site technical contact, delivering day-to-day IT support while working closely with an off-site technical team.
The role combines traditional service desk responsibilities with physical IT infrastructure support, requiring someone who is comfortable troubleshooting hardware and software issues, supporting end users face-to-face, managing IT assets, and performing basic field engineering tasks (CCTV, automatic doors, nurse call etc).
This is a full-time position, 38 hours per week depending on client requirements and workload. The role is dedicated to supporting a specific client contract, offering consistent work s (up to 38 hours per week) based on business needs and performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide Level 1-2 IT support, including incident management, troubleshooting, and ticket resolution.
- Support Microsoft/Google Workspace/ ChromeOS environments, user onboarding/offboarding, and identity/access management.
- Maintain and troubleshoot IT infrastructure, including networking, laptops, desktops, printers, mobile devices, UPS systems, and AV equipment.
- Manage specialised systems including nurse call equipment, CCTV, access control, and VoIP telephony.
- Install, configure, and physically deploy IT equipment, including mounting hardware and performing basic low-voltage cabling, soldering and maintenance.
- Maintain accurate documentation, knowledge base articles, asset registers, and technical procedures.
- Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and support IT projects.
About You:
The ideal candidate will have:
- Previous experience in Desktop Support, Technical Support, or an MSP environment.
- Strong knowledge of networking fundamentals, Google Workspace/ChromeOS (or the ability to learn quickly), and general IT infrastructure.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills, with empathy and patience when supporting aged care staff and residents.
- Flexible, has the ability to work independently, manage priorities, and solve problems proactively.
- Amenable to work full-time, onsite (no work from home)
- Can travel weekly to Chatswood and monthly travel to Oberon, NSW (including overnight stays).
- Valid NSW Driver’s Licence.
- Clear National Police Check / Aged Care Worker Screening.
- Comfortable performing physical tasks, including lifting equipment, installing hardware, using basic hand tools, and travelling between sites.
