Sydney | Hybrid | Client-Facing Consulting Role
We are partnering with a leading Australian cyber security consultancy to appoint a Senior Security Consultant who specialises in Data Security and Information Protection. This role is ideal for someone who combines strong technical capability with exceptional communication skills and enjoys working directly with clients to solve complex security challenges.
Importantly, this is not a GRC, risk, audit, or compliance-focused position. We are specifically seeking consultants with hands-on experience designing and implementing data security technologies within enterprise environments.
The Role
As a Senior Security Consultant, you will lead client engagements focused on data protection, information security, and data loss prevention initiatives. Working within a high-performing professional services team, you will help organisations secure sensitive information across Microsoft 365, cloud, and SaaS environments.
You will act as a trusted advisor to clients while also contributing to solution design, technical delivery, mentoring, and practice growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver end-to-end data security consulting engagements
- Design and implement Data Loss Prevention (DLP) and Information Protection solutions
- Lead Microsoft Purview deployments and optimisation projects
- Advise clients on data governance, classification, protection, and insider risk management
- Conduct workshops and stakeholder engagement sessions
- Produce high-quality technical and business-facing deliverables
- Mentor junior consultants and contribute to capability uplift
- Support pre-sales activities, solution architecture, and client presentations
Essential Experience
- 5+ years’ experience in Cyber Security Consulting or Professional Services
- Demonstrated experience delivering enterprise Data Security projects
- Strong hands-on expertise with Microsoft Purview, including:
- Data Loss Prevention (DLP)
- Information Protection
- Data Classification and Labelling
- Insider Risk Management
- Data Lifecycle Management
- Experience implementing and configuring security technologies rather than solely providing governance or compliance advice
- Strong understanding of Microsoft 365 security capabilities
- Knowledge of cloud and SaaS security architectures
- Excellent stakeholder management and client-facing communication skills
