A newly created role is now available for a highly experienced Financial Controller, who can support the business through their next growth phase.
Reporting to the Directors, your primary responsibility will be to oversee and optimize multiple critical areas of the business including, finance, HR, risk & compliance, IT, legal & contracts, which will be crucial components for the overall success and growth of the company.

It is envisaged you will be a commercially astute self starter, who can provide leadership and management of the organisation’s finances, identify new opportunities and has a continuous improvement mindset.  As this is family business, a hands-on approach and a willingness and desire to chip in and get things done are essential requirements.  Demonstrated experience managing Finance functions within a construction/joinery operation or similar, is essential to be successful in this role.

Duties:

  • Provide leadership and management of the organisation’s Finance functions, and existing onshore and offshore finance team members
  • Build productive working relationships with stakeholders in order to understand the business operations and the financial information needs of stakeholders.
  • Manage the organisation’s cash flows within available facilities, providing appropriate Management reporting to the required stakeholders.
  • Manage the organisations cash flows and financial reporting obligations, with responsibility for timely preparation, analysis and presentation of management reports to all stakeholders
  • Work closely with external Advisors in the management the organisations statutory taxation obligations (including Income Tax, FBT, BAS).
  • Collaborate, design, implement and review finance systems, policies and procedures to ensure continuous improvement.
  • Ensure reporting functions and responses to ad hoc requests for financial related information are appropriately delivered.
  • Preparation of annual budgets and forecasts for the organisation
  • Manage relationships with Vendors & Suppliers, ensuring quality and cost effectiveness
  • Undertake a range of other activities within the Corporate Finance function, such as maintenance of consolidated key finance activities (e.g. asset financing); governance/internal control activities; business administration and insurance management.

Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor degree in Accounting/Finance with CPA or CA qualifications preferable
  • Significant accounting experience, including recent experience in a similar level role within the Manufacturing/Construction/Joinery industry
  • A track record of providing strategic financial and operational leadership in an SME environment
  • Prior experience in leading business process improvements and project management
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with proficiency in preparing reports and presentations
  • Proven ability to understand key financial and business variables in a complex and changing commercial environment
  • Demonstrated experience managing risk and compliance
  • Ability to oversee the efficient and effective operation of all financial management functions including month end reporting, budgeting and end of year reports
  • An understanding of HR, payroll and modern award compliance obligations
  • Positive can-do, willing and flexible attitude
  • Ability to deliver results and set your own and the teams goal
  • Results driven, with a high level of commercial acumen
  • An analytical mind and high level problem-solving ability
  • Highly computer literate in MS Office, Accounting & CRM’s
  • MUST have full Australian working rights
