About the Role
Our client is looking for a Senior Security Consultant (Governance, Risk & Compliance) to join a high-performing cyber security consulting team based in Brisbane. This role is pivotal in delivering security-focused projects, building long-term client relationships, and driving tangible improvements in cyber security maturity across various industries.
You will partner closely with senior leaders to support strategic security objectives, lead security assessments, and contribute to the growth and capability of the consulting practice. This is a hands-on, client-facing role with plenty of variety and influence.
What You’ll Do
- Lead and deliver cyber security consulting projects aligned with ISO, NIST, ISM, CPS 230/234 and other key frameworks.
- Conduct governance, risk, and compliance assessments and provide actionable recommendations.
- Support clients through security remediation and uplift initiatives.
- Provide expert advice across information security domains including governance, strategy, and architecture.
- Collaborate with sales teams on proposals and offer pre-sales support as required.
- Mentor and develop junior consultants, supporting team growth.
- Deliver security awareness and training sessions to client organisations.
- Build lasting client partnerships through expert guidance and consistent delivery.
About You
- 5-7+ years’ experience in cyber security consulting or security practitioner roles.
- Strong knowledge of security frameworks and standards such as ISO 27001, NIST CSF, ISM, Essential Eight, CPS 230/234.
- Relevant security certifications (CISSP, CISM, CISA, ISO 27001 Lead Auditor/Implementor highly regarded).
- Proven ability to lead security reviews, risk assessments, and strategy development.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills across all levels of an organisation.
- Ability to balance client needs with project delivery deadlines and business outcomes.
- Passion for leadership, mentoring, and professional development of team members.
- Comfortable working in both pre-sales and delivery environments.
