Shape the future of a growing Australian business
About the Employer
A successful Australian business in the building and home renovation sector is entering an exciting period of expansion and is looking for an experienced Chief Operating Officer to help turn that growth into a more efficient and scalable operation. The business has a diverse customer and sales model spanning wholesale, retail, e-commerce and B2B, underpinned by established supplier and manufacturing partnerships and a strong national presence.
About the Role
This role is about making the business work better. You will have broad responsibility for the way the organisation operates, bringing greater structure, commercial discipline and accountability across the business. You will assess existing operations, identify where time, money and resources can be better utilised, and then lead the changes required to improve performance.
Your focus will include:
- Improving operational efficiency and reducing unnecessary costs
- Establishing clearer processes, responsibilities and performance measures
- Leading teams across logistics, fulfilment, customer service, sales and support
- Improving supply chain, procurement, inventory and supplier performance
- Increasing visibility across budgets, cash flow, landed costs and margins
- Introducing practical KPIs, reporting, automation and business systems
- Supporting the continued growth of wholesale, B2B, retail and e-commerce channels
- Developing people and creating a stronger culture of accountability
- Identifying opportunities to improve the overall commercial performance of the business
What’s on Offer
- $150,000 base salary + superannuation + performance-based commission
- Newly created executive leadership role with genuine ownership and influence
- Direct access to the Founder and key decision-makers
- Work alongside a dedicated and passionate team
- The opportunity to make a meaningful and lasting impact on a growing Australian business
About You
You are an experienced commercial and operational leader who understands that strategy only matters when it gets executed.
You will ideally have:
- Senior leadership experience in a COO, Operations Director or comparable position
- Strong commercial judgement and an understanding of financial performance, margins and cost control
- A demonstrated history of improving businesses, processes and operational efficiency
- Experience across wholesale, distribution, supply chain, retail, e-commerce or manufacturing
- Strong people leadership skills and the ability to create accountability
- The confidence to challenge existing ways of working and implement better ones
- A practical, hands-on approach rather than a purely strategic leadership style
Why This Role?
This is an opportunity to join a business with a strong foundation and take on a key leadership role in driving its next phase of growth, while enabling the MD to focus on broader strategic opportunities.
For the right person, this is a role where you can see the impact of your decisions, build something meaningful and help shape the future of the organisation.
