About the Role:
Our client is a successful family-owned Australian Engineering and Steel Fabrication business who have been in operation for over 30 years.  In that time, they have developed a reputation for consistently exceeding customer expectations, whilst maintaining the highest levels of professionalism in quality, craftsmanship, integrity and attention to detail.
  
As a result of continued growth, they are now seeking an experienced Project Manager, who has a mechanical engineering or relevant trade qualifications, who will be tasked with leading the planning and implementation of large scale projects, both locally and interstate.  You will be responsible for managing all aspects including; Estimating, Quotations, Planning, Production, Procurement, Inventory, Labour, Quality and Safety. 

It is envisaged that you will demonstrate a strong focus and commitment to business improvements and efficiencies and be someone that engages with the plant, enjoys being present and leads by example. We are looking for a proactive, enthusiastic individual, who has proven experience in a managerial role, within a busy manufacturing environment.

Duties:

  • Lead and manage the production team, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with Production Planning to achieve production metrics based on sales forecasts and inputs
  • Monitor and analyze production metrics to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Develop and implement strategies to optimize manufacturing operations, ensuring efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Implement and enforce safety protocols to ensure a safe working environment for all employees.
  • Drive initiatives for process automation and technological advancements to enhance operational capabilities.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to streamline workflows, improve productivity, and meet production targets.
  • Oversee inventory management and supply chain processes to maintain optimal inventory levels and minimize disruptions.

Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or relevant Trade qualifications
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in manufacturing operations, with a track record of driving process improvements and achieving operational excellence.
  • Strong management and leadership skills with the ability to motivate teams and foster a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Experience with inventory management and quality control
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Sound understanding of OH&S processes
  • High level computer skills, including MS Office, MYOB Autodesk (AutoCAD & Inventor)
  • Be available to travel interstate if required
  • Be available to work 7am to 4.30pm Mon to Thurs and 7am to 3.30pm Fri, with flexibility to work outside these hours as required.
  • MUST be based in Australia and have full working rights
